My brother had a craving for cake and I wanted to try making one in the microwave. Since we had no eggs, milk but everything else I adapted a vegan cake recipe to make this.
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup Milo/cocoa
chocolate chunks

In a stone bowl, mix everything but the chunks of chocolate first until it's a smooth mixture. Fold in the chunks of chocolate. Stick the bowl in the microwave for 3.5 minutes. The time is based on a 1200W microwave. Use a palette knife to go around the edges before turning over onto a plate.

My procrastination takes new heights.

I keep getting distracted by shiny fandom pretties when I'm working on my essay.
The latest fandoms to eat my brain and have done so since uni started are Torchwood and SGA.

Gah...I write an essay for human behaviour- introspection and motivation and I think about Ianto and [info]sarcasticchick's Shades of Ianto series.
I write an essay about schema, long term memory and limitations of memory and I think about Rodney and how his schema must have developed.
I write a response to a question on interpersonal/intrapersonal intelligence and I think of Hiruma and how intuitive he is to be able to relate and communicate to individuals and the masses.
I do a reading on cognitive resource overload and limitations and all I have in my head are dancing amigurumi.

Fandom eats brains. *whimperwhimper*

Grrrrrrr......

Just a little pet peeve.

I don't mind proof-reading essays for friends. If I have a little spare time, as unlikely as that may seem sometimes, then I'll have a quick go through for grammar, flow, etc.

And while I don't mind doing so as a favour, I DO mind when you expect me to fix up your typos as if I'm doing the final proof. That's just sheer laziness and too much presumption on your part. I can make recommendations but there is no way I will go through and fix something so simple a spellchecker can catch. Then to have the gall to keep asking me if I'm going to fix everything after I've said that all it needs is a run through the spellchecker, and the nerve to try and guilt me about grades...WTF?!?!?! I'm not here to write your essay, nor am I going to let you hold me responsible for your essay. And you're the only one who expects me to literally be the final proof. Isn't it the goal to hone your writing skills so that you can run through it yourself? I have better and more important things to do with my time then spend it fixing up your essay. [/minirant]

I totally fail at updating journals. No time since uni equates to a nth level of hell.

I've actually been keeping busy and productive though, so kudos to me. Assignments are actually being done reasonably early, I've almost finished a couple of sewing/knitting projects and...rejoice... my writer's block has ended! I've actually started to write again. It's mostly introspective drabbles but hopefully I'll be able to work myself up to a decent length again.

In the meantime, stuff to look forward to:
*Free Comic Book Day, May 3rd
*Neil Gaiman signing @ Kinokuniya, May 6th

Holiday quiz

You Are Thanksgiving

You are a bit of a homebody who enjoys being in the company of people you love.
It doesn't take a lot to make you happy. You're enjoying life as it is.
You have many blessings in your life, and you are grateful for each one.
You believe that life is about what you *do* have. You feel like you have enough of the good stuff.

What makes you celebrate: Family, friends, and the changing of the seasons.

At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The host of the party

On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Spend so much energy preparing that it's a full time job

The questions didn't have much sugar but I would have thought Halloween since I'm a sugar and cosplay addict.

I should know better than to give vague subtle comments that sound like agreement.

That's why I now find that I somehow volunteered myself to write an article.
In Vietnamese.

And that's the killer. I could only be considered intermediate level as my grasp is of the "common" language. I was never interested in learning the formal literary standard as a kid. I only became interested when I started watching Vietnamese operas.
But that only means I understand and retain the meanings of the obscure parts of language. It doesn't mean that I would know how to write an essay!
